Happy New Year and welcome back! I hope everyone had a very restful and wonderful break.



In Math, the Grade 5’s have moved onto their next topic of multiplication and division. They have begun estimating products to solve problems and will be exploring 2x2 digit multiplication and 3 digit by 1 digit division.

 


The students have been busy researching and preparing their projects for the upcoming Science Fair on February 21st. The projects are due Monday, February 11th. They have also been continuing their unit on weather and how it affects various types of buildings and structures. We will also be learning about fog and cloud formation.

 


In Social studies, we are continuing our unit on Early European Colonization. The students are learning about the first European explorers that came to North America and later will be researching various explorers are presenting their findings in class.

 


In Religion, we have been learning about corporal and spiritual works of mercy as well as the 7 sacraments given to us by Jesus.

 


The students are also busy practicing paragraph writing (on the computer) and will be focusing on various types of paragraphs such as narrative, descriptive, expository and persuasive.
